How Gunthrop Gallery came to be.

Gunthrop Gallery began with a name.

Gunthrop was my mother’s maiden name, and keeping it alive became deeply important to me. Names carry memory, history, and legacy. I did not want hers to disappear. I wanted it to continue, to live on through something lasting.

At the same time, I found myself turning to painting during a painful season of life. What started as a personal release became something more. Over time, I built a body of work that held emotion, movement, and healing. The paintings became more than private expressions. They became evidence of survival, reflection, and transformation.

Gunthrop Gallery was created to give that work a home.

What began as a deeply personal act has grown into a larger vision, one rooted in legacy, creativity, and care. The gallery exists as a place for original work to be seen, collected, and carried forward. It honors where this journey began while making room for where it can go next.

At its core, Gunthrop Gallery is about remembrance and creation. It is a way of keeping a name alive. A way of turning pain into purpose. A way of building something that lasts.
